Baby Stepping my Way

Well, it took awhile, but I finally tried Jillian Michaels again. I did just a few of the remote exercises this morning. Would you believe I actually got a "Good job!" from Jillian? I know! I couldn't believe it either! I find the exercises are pretty quick, which is good and bad. I like getting them over with, but they are so fast, I feel winded when it is done and it's hard to keep up with her.

I was starting to feel like there was no point to trying anymore. It seemed that whether I tried or not, I was gaining weight. It didn't seem to matter what I ate or what I didn't eat, the weight just kept creeping on. Then I found a blog during the Ultimate Blog Party that gave me some inspiration, so I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep at it. I'm thinking of re-joining Weight Watchers online; still in the thinking stage right now. And this week, I'm going down to the YMCA to find out about memberships. I don't want my kids to get stuck in the same rut that I have been in. Here's to a healthier week!

Making Change

047-365 Interchangeable

Well, I've hit an impasse. I don't know how to make the changes I need to in order to get healthier. I don't know how to lose the weight. I try and then I get discouraged, so I quit. It's easier to give up than to keep trying. I don't like failing at this. I don't like seeing my weight keep going up. I really don't like how I look in a bathing suit. We took the kids to a hotel for one night over March break and let's just say, the image in the mirror was not a pleasant one. I need a mirror like the one I saw in a Victorian house today, It was designed to make you look thinner and taller so that girls would not want to over-tighten their corsets which could cause them to faint. Maybe we all need a mirror like that. It feels like I'm looking in a mirror that makes me look shorter and wider lately. I think it's a ploy by the diet industry to make you feel bad about yourself so that you'll spend more money. What do you think?

So readers of mine (whom ever you may be), I need some help! Please, let me know how you get motivated to be healthy and stay that way. What has worked for you? I need to make some changes before things get out of control...although it already feels as if they are. What is one small change that I can make and keep up with? I'm going to do this in baby steps because if I go full tilt, I'll crash and burn (again).

1 Week Done! 30 Minutes a Day on My Wii Fit!

I thought a picture of the Seven Sisters was a great one to represent seven days completed yesterday. 30 minutes a day for 7 days on my Wii Fit. Not bad, huh? Along with trying to eat better, this is part of my plan for getting healthier. I'm not completely sure if it is working yet as the balance board seems to show my weight being down for two days and then up on the third. I've decided to try to focus less on the weight and more on being healthy, but it still frustrates me to no end!

I'm feeling OK. Not spectacular or anything, but perhaps a bit better than I had been. What I really like is that those 30 minutes a day are mine. I'm not working or writing or taking care of the kids, or doing laundry. Those are 30 minutes of me time. It's become more fun too, and I think that really is the key to exercise for me. If it's not fun, I won't be motivated to do it.

So now we start on week 2 and keep on going. Taking small steps every day towards a healthier life.
